I was waiting for my mom to get out of work this afternoon. I was on espn.com to check in on some new NFL news. (I’m on a fantasy football league so I check NFL news just about once every 5 minutes.) There was a story that caught my eye, but it didn’t interest me that much because it was about Floyd Mayweather. I’m tired of reading about this motherfucker. I tried to watch his little video he posted last week but after a minute I couldn’t stand it because he sounded like a retard.

The writer has been of personal interest to me because usually he writes good articles. His name is LZ Granderson. This particular article got me curious to read because 1) I was bored 2) figure it would be a nice way to pass the time 3) wanted to see if I could read it fast enough before my mom came. As I was reading he brought up what Mayweather said and how sorry he was. He wrote how if Mayweather was comfortable enough to talk all this shit about Manny Pacquiao in front of a camera, he certainly was more than comfortable to say all of that when there are no cameras around filming him. Think of Dr. Laura Schlessinger and how natural it seemed for her to say ”nigger” a lot. As someone who openly uses the N word (without the -er of course) she uses that word quite often. So only imagine how much worse can Mayweather get if it’s just him and his crew of ‘YES’ men. I talk mad shit so I know how bad someone can go off if they aren’t being heard by the open public.

The next part of the story really disturbed me and opened my eyes. LZ went off to say how when any prominent black man gets bashed in public there is national backlash of Rev. Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and the NAACP get on it and protest. They pretty much bully the other party who went racial on the black guy that they said something about. Like how Dan Gilbert, owner of the Cavs, went off on LeBron James for leaving the way he did and Jesse Jackson was all over him like a bee on honey. But when one of their own goes on a racial and uneducated rant, where were they to shut him up? Is it possible they didn’t do anything because he is black? Are they themselves racist in a way? It’s called the NAACP isn’t it? The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, right? Filipino’s are colored, where were you guys when we need you guys? One of your own nigguhs is hurt and you all jump in to save them. When one of you guys attack someone else who isn’t black, you guys just step back and watch? Is that what God would do? I mean, Sharpton and Jackson are reverends right? The fuck where ya’ll nigguhs at?

This aspect of reality pisses me off: Being Filipino in this country is a problem when we aren’t being shown the proper respect we deserve. It’s not like we’re last place citizens, but we aren’t exactly treated as 1st class citizens either.

I have a lot of other things to say but I can’t completely organize my thoughts right now. All I gotta say is Filipino’s are fighters. We are survivors.
